A.G. Bear and Squoosh. A.G has the white paws and was the original electronic "talking" bear from around 1980. He speaks in mumbles and other weird noises in response to sounds around him. Much more imagination building than Bingo and Teddy Ruxpin who came out a year or so later. They actually talk, but with a repetitive vocabulary of only 100 or so random words/phrases they also got old REAL fast. Plus AG is real soft and cuddly - the others had a rigid body.

Cute. [^^]

That's interesting. Most talking teddy bears are pretty rigid because of all the mechanics. :/

:ahoy: That's exactly why I don't have any of those kind. In my book a bear should be soft & cuddly - not a fur covered statue. That and like I said, even to a child, their limited vocabulary gets boring real fast. A.G.'s voice box is only 2x the size of a 9v battery.
Cheers! :abduction:

Yeah. :/ Hopefully the technology will get tiny enough for the littler boxes again soon -- if we can make laptops and cell phones the width of my hair, why don't we make talking teddy bear's technology better...? [O-o]

Cheers!

:ahoy: Thanks. That one is one of the last good ones from my Kodak camera before it starting acting up by not focusing right.
Cheers! :teddy:

Until several gigs of flash memory gets cheap enough - maybe another 5 years, so they could not just give random phrases but hold a program and library to reasonably converse, the mfgr's should stick to what A.G does. It follows what it hears and 'speaks' with a surprisingly varied range of mumbles & grumbles of varying pitchs in a 'language' of its own. Much better for a child's (and adult's :giggle: ) imagination to work with than something that mainly plays tapes (Teddy Ruxpin) or says irrelevant and random phrases eg Bingo and its ilk.

I remember some rather tiny programs, just a few hundred-kb, from my DOS days in the late `80's that could do it. They were kind of a text-mode cyber-shrink that would try to psychoanalyze you. Pretty narrow in scope but at least it gave a good semblance of real conversation. Tie something like that to a natural sounding voder and on small scale production building methods it'd be a about the size of cell phone, pushing the tech it could be half that size. Stuff it into a plushie and you should have a winner. After all typical markups of 150-200% I think even today it could go for maybe $400-500 MSRP. Not exactly mass-consumer price range but doable.

WHOA. [O_O] And I thought PHP was confusing. XD

I think I understood what you said -- just not the words that made not understand yes. *Not speaking properly at all/randomly words*

Cheers!

... Seriously. Simple bits of PHP (or at least simple to me) are easy, but PHP MySQL? Okay, including security procautions, it = HARD. [X_X]

Simple PHP:

<?php

$variable1 = 10;

if ($variable1 = 10)
{
echo "The variable named \"Variable 1\" is equal to \"10\"!";
}

// I'd use the variable data request thingy for the variable value, but
// I'm feeling lazy. [=w=]

?>

That's simple. I can't even put the MySQL stuff into the textarea without it asploding. [T-T]

Plus, I don't really know it well enough to put it up. ^^;
